The event, now in its fourth year, is taking place at Wirral Rugby Club across the weekend of the 14th and 15th June. Over 100 teams of children, ranging from under 6s to under 13s, are expected to enter, competing in 5 and 7 a-side tournaments.
As well as competing, all teams taking part are fundraising to support Claire House. Last year, over £10,000 was raised by those taking part, and around 3,000 people turned up to watch the matches over the weekend.
You can find out more about this year’s Claire House Cup on their official website.
Claire House children’s hospice opened its doors in December 1998. The hospice, located in the grounds of Clatterbridge hospital on the Wirral, provides a service for babies, children and young people aged 0 – 23 years with life limiting conditions and their families from Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
Since 1998, Claire House has gone from strength to strength and is now providing leadership and focus for its many children, families and staff and also for supporters. In 2006 an extension was opened providing facilities for teenagers, and giving the hospice space to provide care for over 200 families.
