We’re joining forces with Thomas Rigby’s and the Whitechapel Centre for Global Scouse Day

Global Scouse Day 2015

We’ll be tucking into Scouse here at CLB towers next Friday to raise money for local homelessness charity the Whitechapel Centre

You might not be aware of it, but Saturday 28th of February marks Global Scouse Day. As a Liverpool-based firm we’re rightly proud of our roots and our 68 year history here in the city. We’re also big fans of Scouse, the iconic meat and potato stew which gave its name to the local accent and the people here in Liverpool.

We won’t be in the office on the 28th, but on Friday 27th, we’ll be tucking in to some delicious freshly-made scouse courtesy of our neighbours Thomas Rigby’s pub. Rigby’s kitchen will be supplying our staff with hot scouse at lunch on Friday, and we’ll be making a donation to the Whitechapel Centre for each bowl we gobble.

Fiona Watkin, the licensee at Thomas Rigby’s told us that, “As Global Scouse Day is a celebration of being scouse & eating, what better way to combine those two things whilst supporting a local charity for those who struggle to eat & sleep on a daily basis.”

About the Whitechapel Centre

The Whitechapel Centre was set up in 1975 to meet the needs of homeless people in Liverpool. It is the leading homeless and housing charity for the Liverpool region.

Central to the work of the centre is the belief in the importance of empowering people and enable them to live independently. They work with some of the most vulnerable, isolated and lonely people in our community and aim to build confidence, skills and capability.

Their support workers help prepare clients to take on a tenancy, deal with health issues or addictions, develop budgeting skills and move into suitable, good quality homes.
