Writing competition winners celebrated at Liverpool Central Library

Competition Winners Jasmine Langan and Eve Lewis, together with actor Michael Starke and Musician Ian Prowse at Liverpool Central Library

The winners of our schools’ writing competition, In Other Words, were celebrated yesterday at Liverpool Central Library with a presentation and a reading by two very special guests.

Canter Levin & Berg Solicitors took over Discover, the children’s library at the newly re-opened Liverpool Central Library yesterday afternoon. Amidst the grand surrounding of the refurbished building, we held a presentation for two budding young local writers – the winners of ‘In Other Words’, our writing competition held as part of the 2013 Liverpool Literary Festival.

Jasmine Langan, winner of the Primary Schools’ category and Eve Lewis, who won in the Secondary Schools’ category were at the library to receive their prize certificates and an Amazon Kindle each.  Teachers from Jasmine and Eve’s schools were also at the event, and both girls’ school libraries received £200 worth of new books, generously donated by Canter Levin & Berg Solicitors.

The event was capped off by a special reading of both the winning entries by guests Michael Starke, better known as Thomas ‘Sinbad’ Sweeney from Brookside, and local musician and Amsterdam frontman, Ian Prowse. Michael and Ian read the winning stories before an audience of proud parents, teachers, solicitors and staff from Canter Levin & Berg and last but not least, the two judges of our writing competition, Jade Wright and Michelle Langan.
