The entries are in, and after much deliberation the judging panel has selected the winning entries for our creative writing competition 'In Other Words'. Drumroll please...
Congratulations to Eve Lewis, from Maghull who wrote the winning entry in the Secondary Schools' category with her short story ‘Mittens’ and Jasmine Langan from West Derby who came top of the Primary School entries with her piece ‘The Secret Village’. We would like to thank all of you that entered, the standard was incredibly high indeed and we very much enjoyed reading your entries – it is a shame that there can only be one winner per age-group.
All the entries to our competition, from local primary and secondary schools, will be on display in the newly refurbished Liverpool Central Library from Monday 24th June until Monday 22nd July so make sure you pay a visit to view all the entrants work on display in such impressive surroundings.
Both Eve and Jasmine will receive their Amazon Kindle eReader prizes and £200 worth of books for their schools on Tuesday 28th May in a small ceremony at ‘Discover’ the new Children’s Library, on the ground floor of the main library.
After our winners were announced, we spoke with a member of staff at Eve's school, Maricourt Catholic High School, who said "Our school librarian is delighted as she only gets a limited budget for purchasing books each year. Our school library gets used a lot as we have a reading scheme so your books will benefit the school greatly!"
