The scheme is open to the teachers, pupils and parents of all schools and colleges in Liverpool.
Mark Flynn, Senior Partner at Canter Levin & Berg confirmed he and his colleagues strongly support the aims of the initiative because it not only introduces pupils to the legal system, but also reminds young people that laws bring responsibilities as well as rights.
He added, "Liverpool's schools and colleges depend upon local support and we are very happy to play our part by funding this imaginative programme. We hope the weekly citizenship materials will prove very useful to busy teachers across the city over the coming year."
"Liverpool will benefit greatly if its young people are encouraged to become active citizens when they leave school, and we believe this project can provide valuable help to local teachers in this respect."
The Schools Law & Citizenship Web supplies busy teachers with weekly materials on current news stories which bring matters of law and citizenship alive in the classroom.
All the tasks are quiz-based to ensure pupils enjoy learning about aspects of the law they are likely to encounter later in life.
Project Director, Patrick Gaffney, thanked Mark Flynn and his team saying, “We can only make a difference in schools if we gain the support of the wider community. I am extremely grateful to Canter Levin & Berg for coming on board.”
“Indeed, I am pleased to say the support from law firms throughout the country has been remarkable. They are clearly keen to increase the understanding of young people. Over 200,000 pupils have now been catered for and the legal profession deserves great credit for this.”
