A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document that enables one person to give another person or persons (called Attorney) authority to make certain decisions on his or her behalf.

There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney (LPAs):

A property and financial affairs LPA: This gives your attorney authority to deal with your property and finances, as specified by you (the Donor).

A health and welfare LPA: This allows your attorney to make health and welfare care decisions on your behalf, but only if and when you lack the mental capacity to do so yourself. This can also extend to giving or refusing consent to the continuation of life sustaining treatment, if you wish.

What will a Lasting Power of Attorney cost?

We charge a fixed rate fee of £600 (inclusive of VAT and disbursements*) to prepare and register your LPA if you attend at our offices based in Liverpool city centre and Kirkby.

We offer a discount if you wish to make more than one LPA.

*There is a fee of £110 payable to the Office of the Public Guardian for registering an LPA.

We can visit you at home, in hospital or in a nursing or care home if you wish. We make a further small charge for this service.

We can advise if you are eligible for fee remission for the registration fee.
