Training Contracts
At Canter Levin & Berg, we are committed to our training programme. As a large regional firm based in the North West of England, we are able to provide a broad range of training opportunities. We regard training as a two-way process which involves providing an atmosphere and opportunities for our trainees to develop their skills in a supportive work environment. Above all, we regard our training opportunities as an investment for the future of the practice. Although many of our trainees are retained as qualified solicitors with the practice, we offer no guarantees, only the opportunity to succeed.
Training
We offer training arrangements which are structured to provide a wide range of experience. For the last few years we have been offering 30 month training contracts. We believe that this arrangement, which normally comprises three 10 month "seats" provides our trainees with the opportunity for meaningful training for each of their chosen heads. 24 month contracts are available from time to time, according to business needs.
Although we cannot guarantee to offer work in departments which exactly match stated preferences, we do try to accommodate as far as possible experience of work in areas of law which are of interest to individual trainees in the hope that this will provide mutually beneficial learning arrangements.
We have three offices in Merseyside and trainees may be required to work at any one or more of these offices in the course of the training contract.
We pay the Law Society's recommended minimum salary to our trainees.
Contracts
We are accepting applications for contracts commencing in 2009. Our intake varies from year to year. We encourage those interested to apply as soon as possible. Canter Levin & Berg is an equal opportunities employer.
Applications
Applications showing care in preparation, thorough research, knowledge of our firm and personal achievement are likely to be prioritised. References will be taken up for shortlisted candidates, all of whom will be called for interview. Interviews are usually conducted late each year but occasionally at other times. Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview by our training panel normally comprising two partners and our HR manager. Posted applications should be submitted by handwritten letter and CV and sent to Nicola Rowe, our HR manager who supervises trainee recruitment. Alternatively, you can complete and submit our online application form.
