We cover all the Merseyside and Lancashire Courts as a matter of routine and we also have a national presence operating throughout England and Wales. We offer a service tailored to individual clients. The department has a Legal Aid franchise and has a very large Legal Aid practice but also represents a large number of clients who do not fall within the ambit of the Legal Aid scheme.
We are members the specialist VHCC panel operated by the Legal Services Commission and recognising our tremendous experience in this area of criminal law. Bernard Phelan, a consultant to the practice, has been dealing with such cases for more than thirty years and travels the length of the country representing people before the courts in such cases.

We can deal with all aspects of criminal work including 24 hour call out to police stations , advice and assistance at police stations, motoring matters , attendance at youth court , magistrates court and crown court. We have a number of solicitors who have Higher Rights and can appear and conduct all cases in the Crown Court thus allowing more consistent representation.
The department also has a specialist lawyer dealing with all matters of prison law. Darren Jones can deal with prison adjudication cases, parole hearings and licence recalls including representation at such hearings .
